its gate is now closed.. and with it a change in the air is felt.. snow will once again cover the earth.. and all will snuggle down for a long winters rest..
"Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished, marbled stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I’d exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you."

“And the smile that is worth the praises of earth is the smile that shines through tears”
Grandma's pearls..
Don't much care for Halloween.. but for those of you who do like it.. I wish you a scary night filled with ghosts and gobblins.. and many children begging for your goods..
I know I haven't been around much visiting you all.. and for that I am so very sorry..
times around here are a bit shaky most days.. with getting things ready for winter..
watching my grandson..( who by the way is now scooting all over the place at a very high rate of speed
..) and just the normal last days of fall depression.. that hits us all in one way or another..
but there is a bright light that waits ahead of us.. and that is Christmas.. always brings in the smiles and laughter.. I will do my best to get around to visit you all..
until then.. have a safe and happy Halloween..
much love and soft hugs always..
~Hope

Wow Hope - I went back and looked at your photos again - love that top one of the gate, but they're all captivating. And that poem is very thought and memory-provoking. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteJust love all these photos but mostly the gate and the tree with the hanging moss. Yes the snow will fly soon and there has been much work to get done outside before it does. That is were I am heading very soon. Suppose to get snow this weekend. Keep saying it coming but just never comes. Always giving me one more day. Hugs Carrie
